Last year's Big Effort Chill saw dozens of people dive into Christina Lake's waters on New Year's Day to fundraise to protect the lake.

The Big Effort Chill is getting bigger with an invitation to anyone wanting to take a winter plunge for the month of December.

The New Year's Day community event that usually sees people dive into the chilly waters of Christina Lake now has a month-long challenge that started Dec. 1. People are being encouraged to take a plunge, or quick splash, in Christina Lake any day in December.

According to the fundraiser's Facebook page, people can sign up anytime during the month. Participants must film their polar plunge and post it on social media or directly on your PledgeIt profile. Tag @BigEffortSwim and use #BigEffortChill to engourage others to join. Also share your PledgeIt profile link to raise as many funds as they can. All proceeds go to support the Christina Lake Stewardship Society.

To sign up, visit bigeffortswim.com.

The actual big Effort Chill will be taking place on New Year’s Day at at the Christina Lake Welcome Centre’s water access. Everyone of all fitness levels is welcome.
