Hutton Elementary is running a Santa Shop for students to find gifts to give family and friends for free and are accepting donations.

Students at Hutton Elementary’s can get their Christmas shopping done while going to school, but school staff are looking for more donations to make “shopping” easier for them.

The school has once again opened a “Santa’s shop” for students to pick and wrap gifts for free for the adult members of their family. The shop, an initiative spearheaded by Rebecca Mattick and housed in Alina Langis’ classroom, “opened” Nov. 28 and includes tables of items for “sale” and wrapping tables for students to make gift bags. The room received a large amount of donations, said Langis, but now the shop is asking for donations geared towards men, namely fathers, grandpas and uncles.

All donations should be new or gently used and in good condition.

They are looking for socks, ties, gloves, baskets for gifts, BBQ items, coffee gift ideas, tools and school-friendly books and magazines.

If people want to donate other kinds of items, Langis said they wouldn’t turn them away, but asked they be school-friendly.

The shop is running and taking donations Monday to Thursday until Dec. 12. Donations can be dropped off at the front office with Cheryl McIver.
