Metal band All Else Fails will be playing to Grand Forks tonight. The band comes from St. Albert, near Edmonton, and has a style that isn’t held back by the borders of just one genre.

“Everyone in the band comes from vastly different backgrounds in music” said Barrett Klesko, on vocals and guitar. “We’ve got a guitar player who’s a classically trained jazz musician. Our drummer is all death metal, all the time.”

Klesko said that he is a bit more diverse, listening to not just metal, but industrial, punk and grunge as well.

“It’s the same thing with our bass player,” he said.

This will be the bands first visit to Grand Forks, but Klesko said that they have heard good things from other bands that have passed through town.

All Else Fails is touring their third album, “The Oracle, What Was, Is And Could Have Been” which won’t be officially released until August 19, but will be for sale at their show.

According to the release, the album explores themes from the apocalypse (This World In Flames, Rebirth) to drug abuse (Fallen), to religious persecution (Monster Eats The Pilot), to being haunted by the sins of one’s past (The House At The End of The World).

The band has played with major touring acts such as Fear Factory and City of Fire, as well as earning a spot playing the Ernie Ball stage on the 2009 Vans Warped Tour that featured Bad Religion, Alexisonfire and NOFX. Again, the show is at the Winnipeg Hotel at 8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday Aug. 3).
