Belly dancers putting on free dance workshop in Grand Forks and Greenwood

Join the Hip Sisters Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. in Gyro Park in Grand Forks and Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. at Deadwood Junction in Greenwood for a free dance workshop, dance demo and fire-spinning demo.

Ten years and still dancing.  Some of the faces have changed since the Hip Sisters troupe was formed in 2001 but the enthusiasm and love of dancing remain the same.

The Hip Sisters is a group of women who love to dance.

We come together to experience and explore the magic, beauty, and mysteries of belly dance.

Our somewhat isolated location allows us to cultivate aspects of traditional and modern dance from countless cultures inspiring our unique costuming and performance style we call “belly dance-inspired fusion.”

The troupe annually enrolls in workshops taught by renowned dancers, including belly dance           superstars, Aziza and Hadia.

We invite our founding member, Victoria Morris, to share choreographies and techniques from beautiful dancers such as Gina di Paolo and more.

Cynthia and Laurie, two of the original members, have earned Hadia’s Level 2 teacher training Certification.

Posture awareness and dance technique are the fundamentals of our classes.

We will be performing at the Christina Lake Fundival Aug. 4 and we are participating in the Kettle River Festival of the Arts as well.

Join us Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. in Gyro Park, Grand Forks and Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. at Deadwood Junction in Greenwood for a free dance workshop, dance demo and fire-spinning demo.
