Where in the world is Boundary cyclist Joan Thompson now?

Well, by last update (the afternoon of July 16), Thompson was preparing for her final leg. Yes, the intrepid cyclist is set to hit the Halifax harbour at the end of her journey today.

Thompson, a seasoned long-haul cyclist, has been riding across the country since May, in memory of her sister, Sheila Rae, who died from ovarian cancer last November. Along her journey, the cyclist has been stopping in at different communities to raise awareness and money for research into cures for the disease.

Only about 20 per cent of ovarian cancer cases are detected early on, according to the American Cancer Society.

When Thompson rolled passed the Gazette in May, she said, “I’m loving it. There’s nothing that makes me feel this is too difficult to do.”
