See 'art in action' on April 21 in the Grand Forks and Boundary area

BDAC, Grand Forks’ gallery 2 and the Grand Forks and District Public Library are teaming for BC Arts & Culture Week in the Boundary.

See art in action beginning on April 21.

The Boundary District Arts Council (BDAC), Grand Forks’ gallery 2 and the Grand Forks and District Public Library are joining forces to promote the 14th BC Arts & Culture Week in the Boundary.

Our theme, “Art In Action,” portrays what Arts Week will be from April 21 to 27 with displays continuing until May 4.

The groups are proud to display the wonderful creations of arts and crafts produced by local citizens each year so this year they are again inviting everyone to participate.

The displays have been truly amazing and have been an inspiration to citizens of the community.

Over 100 entries were exhibited last year. Applications are now available at gallery 2 with all the pertinent information.

Arts Week begins on Sunday, April 21 with a gala at the Grand Forks Secondary School (GFSS) auditorium by the arts council performing groups involving adults and students in dance, piano, voice instrumental, accordion, singing, poetry, drama and, of course, the Grand Forks Pipes and Drums.

During the week, there will be school tours with demos in dance, crafts, storytime or puppet shows at the library.

The Boundary Woodworkers Guild and Sunshine Quilters will hold an open house at the studio on Donaldson Drive in Grand Forks.

Arts Week ends on Saturday, April 27 with a reception in gallery 2, where artists and crafts people will be recognized and the youth will entertain, while attendees nibble on sweets.

Remember that the exhibits stay for another week to give everyone an opportunity to see them.

For the final event on Saturday and Sunday, the Grand Forks Community Choir performs its spring concert at GFSS, a truly inspirational week of art in action.
