Rural Communities Summit coming to Grand Forks in June

Registration is now open for the 2012 BC Rural Communities Summit Grassroots, Growing Sustainable Rural Communities.

The BC Rural Network, in partnership with the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary and Community Futures Boundary and Rural Team BC, will host the seventh BC Rural Communities Summit in Grand Forks, B.C.

This biennial forum will take place at the Grand Forks Secondary School on June 7 to 9.

Join Angus Graham, CEO of Selkirk College, as he opens the 2012 rural summit with a discussion around The Rural Learning Region: Learning Networks, Social Capital, and Community Innovation.

Summit workshops and presentations will feature community and industry leaders with the goal of:

• Creating and enhancing awareness around issues of importance to rural and remote communities across all regions of B.C.

• Providing participants with practical tools and strategies that can be translated into actions in their communities.

• Offering valuable opportunities to network with and learn from rural colleagues.
