New board member appointed to Grand Forks library board

The Grand Forks Public Library Association Board of Trustees has appointed Mary Butterfield to the library board.

The Grand Forks Public Library Association Board of Trustees has appointed Mary Butterfield to the library board for a term ending in 2013.

The board of trustees for the Grand Forks Public Library Association governs the Grand Forks & District Public Library and is responsible for the overall governance of the library.

The library board works closely with the library director, library staff, and the Friends of the Library to ensure that the library is meeting the needs of the community.

Mary has returned to Grand Forks with her daughter after spending over a decade away to pursue her education. She is currently a doctoral student and is working on her thesis.

She is an active library user who volunteers with the Community Learning Place (run by CBAL at the library) and also acts as Gallery 2’s volunteer co-ordinator.

Board Chair Ted Invictus said, “Ms. Mary Butterfield’s appointment to your library board continues the long tradition of our community in providing the sound leadership that ensures the ongoing vitality of your public library.”

Mary is joining, Invictus, William Caley (vice-chair), Ralph White (treasurer), Martin Domeij, Christine Day and David Janzen on the library board.
