I’ve got some good news.
We’ve made some upgrades to our catalogue.
It looks a little better, which is nice and all, but more importantly we’ve made some much-needed changes.
First of all, you can now set your library account to keep track of all the books you’ve borrowed and all the books you’ve placed on hold.
In other words, no more having to wonder if you’ve already read that particular John Grisham novel. Also, you’ll now have the option to get your holds notifications by text message (SMS), and you’ll be able to see how many holds there are on any particular book.
Please feel free to ask for help with using any of these new features – that’s what we’re here for.
New books
And speaking of holds, we’ve got some exciting books on order that should be arriving in coming months.
There are new ones from Stephen King, Fred Vargas, Dan Brown, J.A. Jance, Jeffrey Deaver, Linwood Barclay, Ted Dekker, Carl Hiassen, Nora Roberts, and Danielle Steel. We are also continuing to receive piles of DVD donations (thank you, all of you!), and our collection is growing by the day.
Book club
You still have a week left to read our book club book Before I Go To Sleep – which is, according to Library Journal, “a captivating and highly suspenseful read”). Once you’ve read it, you can come to our book club meeting at Christina Lake (Wednesday, May 29 at 1:30 p.m.) or Grand Forks (Thursday, May 30 at 7 p.m.).
Kootenay authors
We’ve got copies of all three books shortlisted for the “One Book One Kootenay” prize! One of the contenders, Antonia Banyard, will be here in June to read from her book Never Going Back.
It’s about a group of friends who reunite in Nelson for the ten-year anniversary of a suicide – and they’re all forced to confront dark secrets from the past. Check it out!
