Masonic lodges in Grand Forks and Greenwood install officers

Members of Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 37 A.F. and A.M. joined with King Edward Lodge No. 28 on Oct. 4 to install its officers for 2012-2013.

Members of Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 37 A.F. and A.M. of Grand Forks joined with King Edward Lodge No. 28 of Greenwood on Oct. 4 to install its officers for 2012-2013 in Greenwood.

Harmony was instituted in 1902 and the Warrant /Charter granted 109 years ago, in 1903. Past Grand Master Most Wor. Brother Edward Hearn of Ymir Lodge No. 31 Salmo performed as Installing Master.

MW Brother Alan Tomlins conducted the board of installed masters.

The Grand Lodge of B.C. and Yukon was represented by District Deputy Grand Master for Boundary District No. 7 – Right Worshipful Bro. George Manson of Grand Forks and of Harmony Lodge No 37. Other Grand Lodge Officers included Rt. Wor. Bro Jack McCuaig DDGM West Kootenay District 6 of Kaslo No 25, Rt. Wor. Bro. Chuck Guild DDGM South Okanagan District 10 of Hedley No. 43 Keremeos, Very Wor Bro Perry Minnich Grand Steward of Corinthian No 27 Trail and V. Wor Bro. Bill Baird Grand Steward of Nelson Lodge No. 23.

Sitting Worshipful Masters included Rt. Wor. Bro Larry Link of Nelson No 23; Rt. Wor. Bro Sam Brown of Corinthian No. 27 Trail; Wor. Bro John Gentleman of Sentinel No. 146 Castlegar and Wor. Bro John Janzen of Star of the West No 61 Nakusp.

Numerous other dignitaries from the Okanagan, East Kootenay, West Kootenay Boundary and Washington areas participated in the ceremonies held in the Greenwood Masonic Hall. MW Bros Hearn and Tomlins were made Honorary Members by both lodges.

Murray Rennie; Treasurer – David Marshall; Secretary – George Manson, DDGM; Chaplain – James Harrison; Director of Ceremonies – Casey Van Leur, PM; Sr. Deacon – Larry Matheson PDDGM; Jr. Deacon – Bill Campbell; Sr. Steward – Fil Mauro PM; Jr Steward –Manfred Flury; Inner Guard – Dennis Smith; Tyler – Bill Ortis, PM; Historian – Gordon Reed  PDDGM and Education Officer – Peter J. Smith P Sr. Grand Deacon.

Harmony Lodge’s Worshipful Master is embarking on a second consecutive term. Tom Gooderham resides in Grand Forks with his wife Grace. Gooderham joined Harmony Lodge in 2006 on transfer from Prince Charles Lodge No. 153 in Kelowna.

King Edward Lodge No. 28 Officers for 2012-2013 are: Worshipful Master – Richard Stringer; Immediate Past Master – Geoff Fern PM; Sr. Warden – Ryan Galloway; Jr Warden – William Schneider PM; Treasurer – David M. Boughton PM; Secretary – Geoff Fern PM Chaplain – Ray Lafleur; Director of Ceremonies – Robert Boyo PM; Sr. Deacon –David M. Boughton PM; Jr Deacon- Randy Kappes; Senior Steward – Greg Fawley; Jr.  Steward – Alfred Berg; Tyler – Brian Swift  PG Steward; Historian – Bob Hatton, PDDGM;  Education Officer – Peter J. Smith, P S G Deacon; Organist – Ray Lafleur. Incoming Worshipful Master of King Edward Lodge – Richard Stringer joined King Edward Lodge in 2007.  He and wife Francine reside in the rural Greenwood area.
