Juno-award winner Fearing performing at Gem Theatre on Wednesday

Stephen Fearing, a member of the Juno-award winning Blackie and the Rodeo Kings is appearing this week at the Gem Theatre.

Sisters Joanne Bailey and Nancy Nikolai love Stephen Fearing’s “earthy baritone vocals and great guitar skills,” so they called him up and asked if he wanted to play in town.

Fearing is a member of Juno award-winning Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, and he is currently on tour promoting his next solo album Between Hurricanes

He was keen to make a stop in the valley between shows in Nelson and Vancouver and agreed to play at the Gem Theatre Wednesday with doors opening at 7 p.m.

“He is a Canadian folk artist and his music is just easy listening,” said Bailey.

Bailey and Nikolai are co-sponsoring the event with the Gem Theatre in Grand Forks, which is celebrating its 100th year.

“We want music in the valley and we want locals to support it,” she said.

Tickets are available at the Gem Theatre, Kocomos Coffee House and Pharmasave for $18, or they can also be purchased at the door for $20.
