There are many events going on at the Grand Forks and District Public Library.

Hi Grand Folks!

We’re looking for enthusiastic community members who might want to join the library board.

Ideally, we’d like our board to be made up of a mix of women and men, of all ages (though the BC Library Act does require that you be 18 years and older).

Do you live in Area C, Area D, or the city of Grand Forks? If you answered “yes” to any of the above, you might be just who we’re looking for.

We have board meetings once a month – each lasting an hour or so.

The board’s primary function is the governance of the Grand Forks and District Public Library, including policies, finances, and all that good stuff.

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, come by the library to pick up an application form, or find it on our website (grandforks.bclibrary.ca).

Happiness

We’ve got a very exciting event on Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. Roly Russell will be presenting on “The Economics of Happiness,” leading us in an exploration of the role we can play in sustaining our communities and ensuring their well-being.

The talk is co-sponsored with Selkirk College as part of its Peace Cafe series. Refreshments will be served and the event is by donation.

Workshop series

Come to the library on Feb. 14 at noon if you’d like to attend the Kelty Mental Health workshop on “Grief and Loss (for children and youth).”

Listen to a brief teleconference, then join our panel for an informative and practical discussion.

Learn @ Lunch

Sally Caisley will be back at the library on Feb. 15 at 12 noon to present on “Seniors – Dealing with Stress”.
