This week's edition of Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up: To everyone who took the time to put up decorations to celebrate Christmas this past holiday. Who doesn’t like beautiful lights?

Thumbs Down: To icy roads, especially at night.

Thumbs Up: To city workers who take the extra time to plow out driveway areas so people can get out of their yard. Thanks!

Thumbs Down: To that person on Vancouver Island who is keeping a domesticated deer on her property.

Thumbs Up: To people who show some appreciation to their paper carriers. This is not the easiest job during winter weather. Your carriers appreciate this.

Thumbs Down: The snow that accumulates on a car’s mud flaps and freezes. It’s hard to get it off, not to mention inconvenient.

Thumbs Up: Mike Pearce for being such a wonderful neighbour and plowing out our driveways with his ATV. Your kindness is much appreciated.

Thumbs Down: To the City of Grand Forks for looking to raise electricity rates again.

Thumbs Up: The Grand Forks Secondary School senior girls hoops team for getting its first win of the season.

Thumbs Down: Vehicles and trucks that roar down Highway 3 between Greenwood and Grand Forks.

Thumbs Up: For the Station Pub’s sign that let us know how many sleeps until hockey started. I thought that was funny and great.

Thumbs Down: To the seeming lack of candidates in the provincial Boundary-Similkameen MLA race. More candidates please!
