This week's edition of Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up: To the RCMP constable driving to Nelson for a meeting who stopped to help us, and looked after us on the way back from the hospital, after surgery when our truck hit black ice and the cab went over the cliff (or was it a bank).  We were very frightened and he stayed until the tow truck came and made sure we were safely back in Castlegar.

Thumbs Down: To the businesses in town whose greetings in the Gazette does not acknowledge CHRISTMAS.  Shame on you!

Thumbs Up: To Sharon Brown whose views many of us endorse re the vapid “Happy Holiday” greetings.  It is CHRISTMAS and should be honored and named as such.

Thumbs Down: Stores that do not honor advertised specials on in-stock items.

Thumbs Up: To all the good things that happened in 2012 in Grand Forks.

Thumbs Down: To all the bad things that happened in 2012.

Thumbs Up: To the Christmas tunes that were blaring on Market Avenue during the holiday season.

Thumbs Down: New Year’s Day hangovers.

Thumbs Up: All organizers of New Year’s Eve events. All the best to you in 2013.

Thumbs Down: Going back to work after being on holiday.
