Have lunch with the Friends of the Grand Forks and District Public Library

New members are always welcome, and an upcoming luncheon meeting is a perfect opportunity to meet the group.

Would you like to support your library, promoting the use of the library and focusing the attention of the public on the library and its services?

You can do just that by joining the Friends of the Grand Forks and District Public Library.

The Friends is a non-profit organizaiton of volunteers with its own constitution. In November 1993, the Friends became a registered charity under the Society Act of B.C. Members meet about six times a year.

Friends do not perform a policy-making role for the library, but their opinions are valued by the library’s board of trustees. Friends supplement what cannot be provided by the library budget with funds, materials, equipment and services.

Friends members have raised funds a number of ways (book sales, a starlight dinner, gift baskets and cookie sales, to name a few) and are always looking for new, unique fundraising ideas.

New members are always welcome, and an upcoming luncheon meeting is a perfect opportunity to meet the group.

Meet on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 12:30 p.m. at the Grand Forks Station Pub in the upstairs banquet room, for a no-host lunch and a very brief meeting.

“The meeting portion of the luncheon will be very short; just enough to give you an idea of what we do,” said Friends President Della Mallette. “It’s a good opportunity to socialize, and for prospective members to meet the group.”

To RSVP, phone Mallette at 250-443-1657 (day) or 250-442-8175 (evening); or email her at dmallette@nethop.net.
