Fructova school reunion on Aug. 4 was enjoyable

Boundary Museum as it hosted their school reunion on Aug. 4 for students of Fructova School.

The comment we heard most often was, “It was the best of times!”

The students of Fructova School where here at the Boundary Museum as it hosted their school reunion on Aug. 4.  Over 30 people attended, with 22 of them original Fructova students.

At age 88, the senior student was Nora Makortoff, who attended school here the year it opened, in 1929.

Students memories included, the pranks they pulled on teachers (putting crackers on the wood stove and smelling out the school), playing baseball at noon time, tobogganing in the winter, being scared or excited on the first day of school and a true appreciation for Fructova.

One of the stories we heard involved a student, who after a third offense, received the strap for speaking Russian in class, and after graduation went on to become a teacher, who taught Russian!  It was very interesting and we look forward to the next reunion!
