Evangeline Chapter No. 31 of Order of the Eastern Star holds installation

Francine and Richard Stringer (foreground) were installed as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron along with other officers in a ceremony at Evangeline Chapter No. 31 of the Order of the Eastern Star on Saturday afternoon.

Evangeline Chapter No. 31 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Grand Forks met for the installation of Officers for 2013-2014 on Saturday at Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 37.

Greenwood residents Francine and Richard Stringer were installed as Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron respectively.

Evangeline Chapter No. 31 meets on the second Wednesday of each month, except July, August and statutory holidays at the Masonic Hall in Grand Forks.

Evangeline No. 31, was instituted in 1922. Members travel from Greenwood, Midway, Montrose, Nelson and Rock Creek for a monthly meeting.

Their charity work involves making cancer dressings, given free to cancer patients.

They collect cancelled stamps to help fund their charitable endeavors. Eastern Star also provides bursaries under a number of programs such as theology students and for doctors who go abroad to learn new treatments, procedures, techniques, and prostheses, and return to share their new knowledge to the cancer clinics here.
