The Columbia Alliance for Literacy (CBAL) will be offering free computer workshops at the local library between Nov. 13 and 15.

There will be free basic computer workshops at the Grand Forks and District Public Library between Nov. 13 and 15.

Offered by the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL) and library staff, the workshops are held in the library’s meeting room with a set of 10 laptop computers.

Workshops

Introduction to using the Internet: Tuesday, Nov. 13 between 10 a.m. and noon

A basic course that will teach you about the Internet from searching to printing and everything in between.

Getting to know your computer: Wednesday, Nov. 14 between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This is a basic introduction to your computer exploring the basics of the “My Computer” window and the basic menus that lead you to main uses of the computer. This workshop allows for practice time and questions.

Working with photos: Wednesday, Nov. 14 between 2 and 5 p.m.

This workshop is a hands-on session using a provided camera and computer. We walk you through the steps of downloading pictures from a digital camera onto a computer, editing, saving and storing them as files that can be emailed or printed.

Using Facebook: Thursday, Nov. 15 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

This workshop is a basic introduction to Facebook. We will get you signed up with a Facebook account, if you are ready, and explore what Facebook offers as a communication tool.

Email for beginners: Thursday, Nov. 15 between 2 and 4 p.m.

Learn how to open your very own email account, and how to send and receive emails.

These workshops are part of the community literacy program offered by CBAL and the Grand Forks and District Public Library.
