Club Happenings: Pioneer Clubs hold annual evening service

Girls in Action (Pioneer Clubs) held their annual evening service Feb. 6 at Gospel Chapel.

The girls and their leaders marched in to their theme song, Thy Word is a Lamp to My Feet.Voyagers, led by Monica Thate and Shawna Fojt, sang a number of songs, some with actions. Their junior guides were Brook Thate and Brynn Fitzpatrick. Their craft person was Barb Smuland.Pathfinders were led by Liz Klassen and Dianna Borthwick.

They recited memorized Bible verses and did a funny song with actions.

Trailblazers were led by Elaine Martens and  Lee-Anna Klassen. Junior Guides were Breeanne Klassen and Tiffany Klassen. Crafts, Rae Salkeld. Trailblazers performed a skit about the Good Samaritan. A Power Point presentation was also shown of the girls’ activities.

Pastor Henry made closing remarks and a prayer. Lee-Anna Klassen, co-ordinator, emceed the evening. Pals provided refreshments in the gym. Each table had supplies on it for guests and girls to make valentines. Over 50 girls are enrolled in Girls in Action. Submitted by Marge Bekker

The Grand Forks Slavonic Senior Citizens Society Branch No. 143 invited the Elks #493 to join their monthly vegetarian potluck lunch, held on Saturday, Jan. 22. Nineteen attended at the Slavonic Hall, which included members from both groups and guests.

The Elks meet the first Tuesday of the month (except for July and August) at 7 p.m. at the Slavonic Hall at 686, 72nd Ave. in Grand Forks. For more info about the Elks contact Larry Jmaiff  at 250-442-2856, Roy Stevenson at 250-442-5260 or
