The Boundary Women’s Coalition announces the addition of two new programs: Stopping the Violence Counselling Program and Outreach Services.

The services are free and confidential.

Ciel Sander is the new Stopping the Violence counsellor in this area.  She provides a safe and confidential place to talk for women who have experienced an abusive or controlling relationship, stalking, dating violence, sexual violence and domestic violence.  Sander has a Master’s degree in social work and has a background in social work health services and addiction and mental health counselling, including domestic violence. She will have an office in Grand Forks and Rock Creek.

Chantal Banman is the outreach worker for the Boundary Women’s Coalition.

Banman has a background in law and has training and experience navigating the court system with the introduction of the new Family Law Act that took effect in March of this year.

Banman provides women who have experienced violence or are at risk of violence, with confidential support, advocacy and transportation.

If you are considering starting an application in family court or would like to talk to someone about your legal family matter, Banman can set up a time to sit down with you and discuss your options.

These programs provide services to the entire Boundary region in a manner that reflects the needs of the women and communities in the Boundary, including Christina Lake, Grand Forks, Greenwood, Midway, Beaverdell, Westbridge, Bridesville, and Carmi.
