BM&TS show ‘a tale as old as time’

The theatre group produced Beauty and the Beast .

The Boundary Musical and Theatre Society presented Disney’s Beauty and the Beast from March 1- 11, welcoming hundreds to the Grand Forks Secondary School auditorium over the two-week run to be swept away in the story of the beautiful Belle, the cursed Beast and the story of falling in love.

The production was directed by Deborah Baker, with assistance from Aaron Baker. Morgan Strohmann was the producer and Lorraine Barg acted as musical coordinator.

The story tells the tale of the Beast (played by Scott de Wynter-Wilkie) who becomes a hideous Beast as a result of a spell, reflecting his arrogance. His household staff are transformed into household objects, like Lumiere, the candelabra, Mrs. Potts the teapot and Cogsworth, the grandfather clock. To break the spell, the Beast must learn to love before the last petal falls from an enchanted rose. After imprisoning smart and curious Belle (Jen Gargul) in his castle, the Beast ultimately falls in love and he is transformed back into his human form.

Stage management was done by Cam and Erin Malkinson, technical coordination by Zak Eburne-Stoodley and sound by Christine-Anne Baker. The show also featured a live pit band (DJ Garfield, Elizabeth Clark, Fynn Dribney, Jerad Sioga, JP Burrow, Xandria Parker, Tim Palek and Shannon Wolf). Costumes were coordinated by Danielle Friesen, Deborah Baker, Hannah Kalesnikoff and Laura Jean Cuthbert, with makeup by Danielle Friesen and hair by Leanne Gailey.

The entire cast and crew send out a big thank you to all the donors, friends, family and everyone behind the scenes that made the show such a success.
