The BC Yukon Peony Show will be taking place in Castlegar June 16 - 18.
Castlegar has been host to the B.C./Yukon show many times in the last eight years and even hosted the Canadian National show in 2019, but took a break due to COVID. Now the show is back at the Sandman Hotel and includes an opportunity to tour local peony grower Dutch Girl Peony Farm.
Area residents are invited to enter their best peony blooms in the competition that will be judged by show visitors.
“This is for every ordinary gardener,” says organizer Holly Pender-Love. “I remember being shy at first, but please consider cutting a few peonies and storing them in the fridge to bring that day, or cut some fresh, if you still have some in mid June.”
The more peonies, the better — so bring whatever variety you have and don’t feel like it has to be a perfect bloom. Visitors love seeing all the amazing types and colours of flowers on display during the show.
