Avi Silberstein named new library director for Grand Forks library

Avi Silberstein was named the new library director for the Grand Forks and District Public Library.

On June 13, Grand Forks Public Library Association Board Chair Ted Invictus, announced the hiring of Mr. Avi Silberstein as the new library director for the Grand Forks & District Public Library.

Silberstein will take the post effective Monday, July 30.

Mr. Silberstein was unanimously approved by the library board at a special meeting held on June 12.

Silberstein is currently the outreach librarian at the Greater Victoria Public Library (GVPL). In this capacity, he has worked to establish partnerships with schools, community organizations and the regional district.

Avi was responsible for the development of several exciting outreach programs at GVPL including the “Bikemobile” and “Library While You Wait.”

He obtained his Master of Library and Information Science degree from Western University.

He is excited to be joining the Staff and Board of the Grand Forks and District Public Library.

Invictus stated: “As our library evolves to meet the needs of the community, Mr. Silberstein has the talents to sustain the historical perspective that the Grand Forks & District Public Library enjoys as well as the visionary qualities to guide the Grand Forks & District Public Library into its new and exciting future.”
