The Beaver Valley Nitehawks erupted for four goals in the second period to overcome a 2-1 first-period deficit on their way to a 7-2 drubbing of the Grand Forks Border Bruins Saturday at the Hawks Nest.

After dropping a close 2-1 decision to the Creston Valley Thunder Cats on Friday, the Hawks recovered their scoring touch as Spencer McLean would net the winner and the Hawks would score two short-handed goals by Tyler Hartman and Brayden Horcoff to count their 14th win of the season.

McLean wired a snap shot over the blocker of Bruin goalie Jacob Mullen, finishing a 2-on-1 pass from Tyler Hartman to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead at 12:43 of the second period. McLean had his biggest output of the season, also adding three assists to go along with his winning goal for a four-point night, and five goals and 12 assists this year.
