It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Popoff on August 30, 2016 at Boundary Hospital. William was born on August 29, 1930, to parents Mike and Martha Popoff in Grand Forks, B.C., where he lived his whole life. Bill was united in marriage to Anne Chernoff in 1953. In his teenage years he worked for 5 years in the orchards of the Okanagan, later working for 5 years at the box factory in Greenwood, B.C. He then worked at Pope and Talbot for 35 years, 25 of those years as a grader operator, leveling logging roads. A heart attack led to early retirement in 1984.

Predeceased by his son Barry, his parents and a number of half brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews. Survived by his wife Anne, son Ron, daughter-in-law Debbie Popoff and many nieces and nephews. Bill enjoyed a game of golf in the summer and did a fair amount of wood working as a hobby in the winter. A family celebration of life has taken place.

Memories don’t ever die,

Even after people do.

In the heart are memories,

That’s where we will hold you.

And some day when it is our turn,

To reach those starry skies,

We’ll find you there with open arms,

Where there will be no more goodbyes.
