Vera Simenoff

1928 - 2016

Vera Simenoff passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 around 9:30 a.m. at Haven Hill, Penticton, B.C. at the age of 87. She was born on November 8, 1928 to William and Annie Demoskoff of Grand Forks, B.C. Vera grew up in Grand Forks and attended school up to Grade 5.

Vera met her husband, Mike Simenoff and they were married on June 16, 1956. They lived in Cawston, B.C. for about 1 year after they got married, then moved to Oliver, B.C. There, Mike worked in the orchards and Vera was a house wife.

They had 2 children, Walter and Michael. Walter was born on December 26, 1957 and Michael was born on January 15, 1962.

Vera took care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and she enjoyed making crafts such knitting, crocheting, embroidering, etc. She was talented and was able to look at a finished product and create her own without a pattern. Vera was a very talented homemaker that kept a busy household together.

They bought their own place at Sportsman Bowl in Oliver in 1961 and they lived there until they were unable to work the farm. They sold the farm and bought a house in town.

Mike went into a care home in Osoyoos on September 6, 1989 and Vera lived in her home until January 31, 2003. Health issues convinced her to move to Haven Hill Retirement Home in Penticton.

Vera is survived by her 2 sons, Walter (Kathy) of Okanagan Falls and their children David and Craig. Michael (Bernice) of Strathmore, Alberta and their children Gregory and Lisa; her sister Helen (Mike) Strukoff of Grand Forks as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Vera was predeceased by her husband Mike in 1991 & her parents William in 1984, Annie in 1998, her sister Anne Seminoff in 2001, her brother-in-law Pete Seminoff in 2013; and her nephew Joe Strukoff in 1975. Rest in peace.

With many thanks to the staff for the care given to Vera during her 15 year stay at Haven Hill Retirement Home.
