1936 to 2010


Pete passed away peacefully on October 15, 2010, at Poplar Ridge in Trail, B.C., at the age of 74. He was born on June 14, 1936, to Pearl and Andrew Makortoff at Grand Forks, B.C. He was the first of five siblings followed by Steve, Polly, Paul and Helen.

Pete attended school at Grand Forks. He then briefly worked in the Okanagan. After returning to Grand Forks, he worked in the bush, at the Phoenix mine, drove taxi, bartended and worked at the Province Hotel. He also worked with paving construction all over B.C., for Grand Forks Redimix, and even drove school bus on occasion. He retired when he was 60.

Pete enjoyed being in the outdoors camping, fishing and ice fishing. He enjoyed coaching hockey too.

A celebration of life was held on October 29, 2010, at the Makortoff residence at Grand Forks. He leaves behind immediate family: wife Molly, sons Sheldon, Kerrick and Corey and his wife Tricia, and grandson Cayman.

Arrangements were entrusted to Personal Alternative Funeral Services of Trail.
