John V. Reibin
July 14, 1933 - May 18, 2017
John V. Reibin of Castlegar, B.C. passed away peacefully at home on May 18, 2017 at the age of 83 with his family at his bedside. John was born in Shoreacres B.C. on July 14, 1933 to Peter and Irene Reibin. He married Lorna Koftinoff on June 30, 1951.
He is survived by his wife Lorna, daughter Gail from Connecticut, son Dan and his wife Gloria from Nelson and 4 grandchildren; Ellissa from New Hampshire, Katherine from New York City, Brad from Kelowna and Jeff and his wife Vanessa from Salmon Arm.
John worked in the lumber industry his entire career, starting on the green chain and working his way up to sawmill manager. John and Lorna spent 4 years living and working in Central America.
John enjoyed spending time with his family, travelling, fishing, gardening, and spending summer days enjoying their place on the lake at Deer Park. He enjoyed working with his hands and was an amazing handyman who could fix anything. He was always more than willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors.
John was active in church and enjoyed volunteering and participating in church functions.
A private funeral service was held on May 25, 2017 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Nelson followed by interment at the Nelson Cemetery. After the burial a Celebration of John's Life took place at the Nelson Evangelical Covenant Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.thompsonfs.ca
