JOHANNES CLARENCE (CLARE) REDDING

Born 23 February 1920 in Humbolt, Saskatchewan, passed away 12 August, 2010 at the age of 90. Clare was predeceased by brothers: Hub, Fred and Leonard; sisters, Marie and Helen. He is survived by brother Ralph; and sisters: Rose, Ioline and Doreen; and his wife of 61 years, Lorraine; his two children, Gordon (Marci) and Diane (Timm). He will be missed by his four grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Clare first moved to Grand Forks with his family in 1932, and joined the military in 1941 to serve his country in World War II. Returning once again to Grand Forks, he met his wife Lorraine who had recently come to Grand Forks from Calgary to be a nurse. After starting their family he opened Clare's Service & Garage in East Trail. In 1980, Clare returned for the third time to Grand Forks to retire in what he described, upon first seeing the valley when he was 12 years old, as 'a Garden of Eden'. Clare was always very interested in his community, members of civic clubs and served a term on the Grand Forks City Council.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, August 21,2010, at 11:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 7269 9th St., Grand Forks, BC. Grand Forks Funeral Home in care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, an expression of sympathy can be shown by sponsoring 'In Memory of Clare Redding' to Clare's niece, Lisa Borsatos, as she participates in the Kidney Foundation, Trail Kidney Walk.
