James Seaton Kermeen was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan on June 30, 1930 and passed in Port Alberni, B.C. on April 30, 2017. Predeceased by parents William and Mildred Kermeen; by sisters Margaret Jones and Enid Schafer; and by former spouse Iris in 2010.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Pat. Also survived by sister Muriel Hunter (Dennis); son Frederick, and daughters Laura (Bert), Cheryl (Mark), Tannis, and Naomi (Jim); stepsons Len (Paula) and Neil (Gillian); 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Jim was a geological engineer whose career took him into many corners of the earth, and sometimes into a few deep pits, in over 27 countries, including almost 10 years at the Phoenix mine. He was an active member of the Grand Forks community through the 1960’s and retained very fond memories of the area for all of his life.

He was adventurous and courageous with passions that included music, art, sports and some really strange cuisine! He had a great sense of humour that was often directed at his tendency to forgetfulness: “I bought a book to improve my memory but forgot it on the plane.” No need to worry about your memory now, Dad, just enjoy your latest adventure.
