GEORGE PAUL Lobay

George Paul Lobay passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010. He was born in Kobrin, Poland, on January 20, 1929. George immigrated to Canada with his parents in the fall of 1937, settling in Innisfree, Alberta. In July of 1945, they moved to Grand Forks, B.C. That same year George started working for the Ministry of Transportation and Highways in Grand Forks as a mechanic. He retired as Shop Foreman in 1988.In 1964 George married Marion Kurnoff. Together they raised four children: Robert, Jim, Douglas and Arlene. He has three grandchildren- Rachel and Jessica Lobay of Kelowna, and Christina Lobay Popoff of Grand Forks. George was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Anastasia and by his son, Robert.He was a skilled mechanic and an avid outdoorsman. George especially enjoyed hunting, getting wood and both winter and summer sports.No service will be held at his request, and private interment to follow at a later date.
