On Friday, October 15, 2010, at the age of 91, Eileen Murton Millican (Johnstone) passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side. She was born on May 14, 1919, to her parents Walter and Mary Johnstone.

Eileen started her long journey of nursing upon her graduation in 1947. There she went on to nurse throughout the Kootenays, and then she resided in Grand Forks where she was the Public Health Nurse for the area. Later she moved to Christina Lake where she took rest and retirement but still did what she did best, cared for people.

Eileen’s career as a nurse was a very important part of her life. She was passionate about a simple touch and a warm smile, and the importance of caring for one another. Eileen felt very blessed to have given and received so much love in her life.

Eileen had a magnetic personality and loved life to the fullest. Throughout Eileen’s life she educated herself all about the birds and animals around her and whatever else caught her fancy at the time...she was very passionate about everything she set out to do. No matter what the situation or predicament Eileen found herself in, she always found the positive and good in all. Eileen always had an infectious smile. Eileen will be dearly cherished by many close friends and family. We can all take comfort in your passing that you are in the arms of your daddy, mommy and sister...

A small private service in Eileen’s honour was held with the “Lament” played on the bagpipes, the wish of our dear loved one.

A special thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Boundary Hospital in Grand Forks for all their care, love, compassion and support. In lieu of flowers donations to the Boundary Community Humane Society would be appreciated.

All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baker family of Grand Forks Funeral Home.
