DOROTHY "DOTTIE" GUNNARSON

February 2, 2011

Dottie passed away peacefully on February 2, 2011, at Hardy View Lodge at Grand Forks, B.C. She is survived by her children- Mavis from Kamloops, and Gary and Jill, both of Grand Forks; and a brother, Clarence Carter of Mission City, B.C.

Born at Stave Falls, B.C., in 1917 of Winnifred and Stanley Carter, our mother attended a one-room schoolhouse in Silverdale, B.C. Her parents and grandparents were the first pioneers of the area, and housed the very first Post Office, telephone and service station/general store through the 1920s. Dottie then moved to Vancouver and was employed as a housemaid for 25 cents an hour. She later created her own successful business as an entertainment booking agent lasting many years. Retirement found her in Grand Forks closer to her children.

Dottie had artistic and musical talents and was once featured on CBC radio, and she loved to participate in art and craft fairs.

Her wartime marriage was to an active member of the Royal Canadian Navy and her brother was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Our mother will be truly missed in the community of Grand Forks by many friends and her children.

Funeral arrangements were arranged by Grand Forks Funeral Home. A service date and time will be announced shortly. May she rest in the hand of our Lord.
