Donald Charles (Don) Hinton passed away peacefully at home on June 21, 2017.

Don was born March 6, 1934 in Peace River, Alberta, he was 1 of 5 children. He spent his early years in Peace River and in Kelowna, B.C. He was a meat cutter by trade. Both in his own establishments and with Overwaitea Foods from which he retired after approx. 20 years of faithful service.

He met Dody Hinton in Whitehorse in 1972 and they married in Mission, B.C. in 1979, where they resided until they moved to Grand Forks in 2001.

He was a wonderful husband and father. He was kind, wise, loving and very honest. One of his best characteristics was his complete lack of ego. He had a lively sense of humour and loved a good joke and a good party. His favourite

saying was “You gotta know the pickle barrel.”

He enjoyed gardening and watching the local wildlife. He was proud of his beautiful garden and his extensive woodpile. He was an avid lover of Robert Services works. He had many friends and will be dearly missed by all.

He was predeseased by his parents and three sisters, Carol, Greta and Norma and first wife, Leona Salmi. He leaves behind his loving wife, Dody and children Sherrie Purinton & Ross Hinton. Sister Joy Philpott, Beaverdell. Stepchildren Scott, Mark & Shawn Thomson and Shawn’s partner Phil Diewert. Grandchildren Christie & Ryan Olsen. Step-grandchildren Danny, Paul & Caitlyn
