Our sister, mother and friend, Dawn Maureen Walker passed peacefully on October 7, 2011, at her home at Campbell River, B.C., with her sister, Dana by her side. She was close to the ocean that she loved. Dawn was born on April 3, 1958, at Boundary Hospital to William and Arden Walker of Grand Forks. Dawn attended school at Grand Forks and was also involved in the world of Girl Guides. Dawn was also a figure skater for much of her growing up years. She loved ice fishing and to do her art of which she had numerous talents. She had many dreams and going to Mexico was one of them. She spent some time living there, which was truly a joy for her.

Dawn’s spirit and sense of humour carried her and us all throughout her battle with cancer, which was amazing. She loved life, her friends and family. She will never be forgotten in our hearts and the countless memories we shared together. Sleep, our angel…

Dawn is predeceased by her mother, Arden Walker, father William and brother, Robin. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Toovey of Vancouver, B.C.; sister, Dana of Campbell River, B.C.; brothers, Keith of Saskatchewan and David of Fort Nelson; nieces, Sian of Grand Forks and Alexis of Vanderhoof; nephews: Dereck of Vancouver, Skyler of Ft. St. John, Kaleb of Grand Forks and Courtland of Nelson.

Dawn’s wishes were that there would be no service, only a spreading of her ashes, which we will do on her birthday, April 3, 2012, at the Christmas star on Observation Mountain around 2 p.m. There will possibly be a drop in reception after. More information will come available.

Any donation can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Dawn’s memory. Yates Funeral Home of Parksville, B.C., was in care of arrangements.
