It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Subotin on Monday, February 27 2017 at the age of 87.

Charles was born to Harry and Anne Soobotin (Samsonoff) on January 10, 1930 in Coryell, B.C.

Charles was the 2nd of 5 children. The family moved to Grand Forks when Charles was a young child.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of 45 years Elizabeth Joyce Subotin, daughters Ramona Lemley (Mike) and Shirley Mackay (Stewart). Grandchildren Amanda Lemley (Jeff), David Mackay, JC Mackay (Samantha), Jennifer Subotin (Darcy) and Trevor Subotin (Angela) and seven great-grandchildren. Also by his sister Polly Pereverzoff (Paul) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was predeceased by his son Robert, his brothers George Subotin and Walter Soobotin, and his sister Zena Nevokshonoff.

Charles was an avid gardener. He loved to share his produce with family and friends. They really appreciated when the veggies were served in his special pot of borscht. He also loved playing cards especially winning at crib. He really enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In Sept. 2002 Charles became a lifetime member of the Legion where he put in countless hours. He loved to socialize, striking up a conversation by telling old stories.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the first responders, doctors and nurses for their earnest efforts.

A celebration of life is to take place at the Royal Canadian Legion hall in Grand Forks on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
