It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Arild Stoltenberg Engen on April 28, 2015 at Grand Forks Boundary Hospital. Arild was born to Ulrik and Anna Engen in Skien, Norway on June 15, 1943. When Arild was just a young boy the family moved to Canada and settled in the lower mainland. He later moved to the Okanagan but then made his final home at Christina Lake. Arild is predeceased by both of his parents. He is survived by his sister Eva Moore, brother Baron Engen, daughter Kelly (Bryan) Fitzpatrick, son Dean Engen, seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Arild was a colourful character that worked and played hard. Always full of energy and vitality he was a big hearted guy that was always willing to offer a helping hand. He was a car guy and a wheeler dealer. He also loved to entertain family and friends and could often be found in the kitchen cooking up a storm! When not at home you could find Arild enjoying a game of pool with a friend, having some good laughs at the Legion Meat Draw, or anywhere there was Karaoke. He was known to some as Mr. Elvis and loved to get up to perform his favourite songs. His words of wisdom would often be “If you aren’t having any fun, it’s your own darn fault!” A celebration of life for family and friends to be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Grand Forks Legion at 1:00 p.m.
