Anne Busby

1918 - October 8, 2017

Our Matriarch, Anne Busby, one of the last of her generation, left us quietly and peacefully October 8th, a few months after reaching 99 years of age!

She leaves many generations of family. Closest are her children, Myrna (Doug) and Norman (Susan), step children, Brian Busby (Helga) and Doris Pierpont (Albert) and her last surviving sibling Helen Mackenrod. Mom also leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Anne was predeceased by our dad, Philip Pfeifer, step-dad Charlie Busby, and her son Bob (Linda).

Mom and Charlie moved to Grand Forks in 1964 from Rossland where they operated a Bowling Alley. They bought a Country Store (now Jolly Jack) and then the Riverside Motel. They both loved games and were active in Bowling, Curling and Golf. They enjoyed Baseball too. The St. Johns United Church, it's pastors and members, were very important to both.

Mom was born in Haultain, Saskatchewan, a tiny farming community south of Saskatoon. She loved to sing, especially in Church choirs, but never took the music or piano lessons that she had always wanted. She was proud of her family and of what she accomplished in life; would often say, "I did the best I could!" And she did!

We want to thank the many medical and care-giving staff of Boundary Lodge and Hardy View.

These were homes to mom in recent years! We want to single out Jean Daniels for being mom's friend, and our eyes and ears. Thank you.

Funeral service will be held at St. Johns United Church on Thursday, October 26th at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served after at the Church.

Grand Forks Funeral Home have been entrusted to the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boundary Pastoral Charge (St. Johns United Church).
