It is with great sadness that the family of Amanda Louise Koppin, 33, of Christina Lake announces her sudden passing on March 26, 2015. The love of her life, husband Ben and the brightest light in her sky, Caleb age 2, share their immense grief with mom and best friend, Susan Harrison and caring stepfather Ted Harrison; stepbrothers Chris (Jenn) and Oliver Harrison (Sheena Archer). Grieving also are father Jim O’Connor and wife Karen as well as stepbrothers Rick (Nikki), Mike (Sarah) and Dan (Jenn) Johnson and also her birth son Daniel Shaw. Amanda was very close and fond of her grandmother, Musa O’Connor, who recently passed away. Raised in the caring community of Fife at Christina Lake, a background that set in motion the lovely person Amanda became; an awesome competitive mountain biker, skier, and later a fine nurse. Her early ski training was through the Nancy Greene programme at Rossland. Later she served as a respected member of the Kicking Horse Resort Ski Patrol and in the summer she developed their downhill biking programme. After a knee injury, she moved to Fernie to enrol in the Licensed Practical Nurse programme where she met her true love, Ben. Following graduation and marriage, Amanda worked in both the Trail and Nelson Hospitals, before starting at Hardy View Lodge in Grand Forks and moving back home to Christina Lake. She was loved and respected by staff and patients alike because of her dedication, compassion and bright spirit. Being a supportive and loving wife to Ben and a wonderful mother, watching their Caleb grow, was the highlight of her life. “ Family time”, dancing, music, adventuring, and helping her family and friends flourish, created a joy for her which easily spread to others. Amanda squeezed every minute out of life to care and nurture and show guidance to all. Almost moment by moment, through her kind and thoughtful manner, she fashioned special memories for all around her and the people she loved. Amanda’s infectious smile could light up a room, and her encounters with friends, new and old, were some of the best moments of her day. She had an intuitive sensibility that endeared her to all and displayed wisdom beyond her years. She will be enormously missed. The Celebration Of Life will be April 11 at 1:30 at the Christina Lake Hall.
