Alexander Walter Lebedoff

January 22, 1940 – May 2, 2016

Alexander Walter Lebedoff was born on January 22, 1940 in Slocan Park, B.C. to Margaret and Walter Lebedoff.

Alexander invested his life in the Kootney Boundary region. Many knew him as “Al” the lively accordion player, director on the Grand Forks Credit Union Board, or member of the Christina Lake Golf Club. To his many students, he was “Mr. Lebedoff” teacher and vice-principal at Perley school, where he taught for over 30 years. Al’s positivity, tenacity, and insatiable curiosity held strong throughout the various medical procedures required to manage his cancer diagnosis until his passing on May 2, 2016 at Boundary Hospital in Grand Forks, B.C.

Al is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Lebedoff; daughters Jackie Relkoff and Suki (Noll) Derriksan; grandchildren Allie Relkoff and Jayes Derriksan; siblings Olga (Brian) Kittson and Ken (Lorraine) Lebedoff; and his numerous in-laws and extended family. All wish to extend their gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, neighbours, and friends who supported both Al and the family through this difficult time.

The service was held at the USCC hall in Grand Forks, B.C., on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Afterwards, Alexander was interned at the USCC Cemetary. The family thanks the USCC community and Grand Forks Funeral Home for their support. Donations can be made to the Iskra or the Red Cross.
