November 15, 1922 to October 28, 2011

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Alec passed away at his home the morning of October 28, 2011.

Alec spent the greater part of his years working for Pope & Talbot, from which he retired in 1986. At home, with his wife, Martha, they tended a large yard, garden and orchard.

Upon retirement, together with his wife, he took up playing golf. They also did a lot of travelling: parts of Europe, Asia, Australia and many places in Mexico, U.S.A. and Canada.

Alec was predeceased by his parents, John and Polly Horkoff; sister, Lucy and husband Jim Legobokow; brother, Fred and wife, Mabel Horkoff; brother, John and wife Annie Horkoff; grandson, Marcus Horkoff; and daughter-in-law, Maureen, wife of Al Horkoff.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Martha; son, Al and his children: Nathan with wife Anita, Tavis with wife Cristin, and Alix with husband Tad Feiss; son Pat with wife Vicky and their daughter Nadya with husband Scott Rickard; son Jerry with wife Irina and their children: Alexander, Katya and Anna; son Bob with wife Liana and their children, Jana and Lanny. Altogether nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Taylor, Kyle, Theodore, Oliver, Jonah and Summer.

Alec was a kind, hard-working man. He loved when family and friends came to visit, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visits to the raspberry patch with the little ones were a highlight. He loved to share the fruit of his labour and looked forward to their visits.

We love and miss you, Dad. Rest in peace in God’s heavenly kingdom.

The service has already taken place. Grand Forks Funeral Home was in care of arrangements. Burial was in the USCC Sion Cemetery.
