The City of Grand Forks announced Tuesday afternoon a deal with the union municipal workers in Grand Forks.

The city and CUPE Local 4728 reached a four and a half year deal after two days of bargaining. The deal was unanimously ratified by the union and by council.

“CUPE Local 4728 is satisfied with the results of 2017 bargaining round. We look forward to four years of partnership with the City of Grand Forks and maintaining a safe working environment for all of our members,” said CUPE Local 4728 president Sukie Lawrence in a press release.

The four and a half year deal included a two per cent wage increase as well as greater flexibility in “employee scheduling.”

“I’m pleased that everything worked out so well, and I’m very happy with the results for the corporation and CUPE members,” said Mayor Frank Konrad.
